Panchakarma

At Suyambu Ayurveda Speciality Hospital (SASH), we offer a transformative Ayurvedic experience through Panchakarma – a time-tested, holistic approach to rejuvenation and detoxification. Panchakarma, which translates to "five actions" in Sanskrit, is a comprehensive Ayurvedic therapy designed to cleanse the body of toxins, restore balance, and revitalize the mind, body, and spirit.

What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is a deeply rejuvenating and detoxifying process that aims to eliminate toxins (ama) accumulated in the body, enhance digestion and metabolic processes, and promote overall well-being. It consists of five main therapeutic actions: Vamana (emesis), Virechana (purgation), Basti (enema), Nasya (nasal administration), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting), although not all are always employed.

The Five Procedures of Panchakarma:

  1. Vamana: Controlled vomiting to eliminate excess Kapha and balance the body.
  2. Virechana: Controlled purgation to eliminate accumulated toxins from the digestive system.
  3. Nasya: Instillation of medicated oils or herbal preparations into the nostrils to cleanse the head and neck region.
  4. Basti: Enema therapy using medicated oils, ghee, or decoctions to cleanse the colon and balance the doshas.
  5. Raktamokshana: Bloodletting therapy, performed in specific conditions, to eliminate toxins from the bloodstream.

Our Approach

At Suyambu Ayurveda Speciality Hospital (SASH), we provide a personalized Panchakarma experience tailored to your unique constitution (prakriti) and imbalances (vikriti). Our experienced Ayurvedic practitioners conduct thorough consultations to determine the most suitable Panchakarma therapies for your specific needs and goals.

The Process

Preparatory Procedures:

Before undergoing the main Panchakarma procedures, an individual typically goes through a series of preparatory steps to ensure the body is ready for detoxification. These may include:

  • Daily oil massage (Abhyanga): Applying warm herbal oils to the body to nourish the tissues and prepare them for elimination.
  • Steam therapy (Swedana): Sitting in a steam chamber or applying warm, moist towels to the body to facilitate the release of toxins.
  • Dietary and lifestyle modifications: Consuming a light, easy-to-digest diet and following specific routines to support the detoxification process.

Post-Panchakarma Care:

After completing the Panchakarma procedures, it is essential to follow a proper post-treatment regimen to ensure the body's continued recovery and maintenance of the therapeutic effects. This may include:

  • Personalized diet and lifestyle recommendations: Following a diet and routine tailored to the individual's specific needs to maintain balance and prevent the accumulation of toxins.
  • Periodic rejuvenation therapies: Regularly undergoing Ayurvedic therapies to support overall health and well-being.
